A great Carlisle Toy Fair!

Last Sunday’s Carlisle Toy Fair proved to be as popular as ever. Despite coinciding with Mothers’ Day an enjoyable time was had by visitors and stallholders alike with more tables to see than before.  Early bird visitors took full advantage of new collectors in attendance who had come to thin-out or sell their collections. The first few hours saw hundreds of collectors of all ages and interests, coming to see what they could find, or exchange.  The weekend’s antique and collectors fair (also being held on Montgomery way) also served to bring wider collectors into the H&H Exhibition Hall and the now legendary Cafeteria which was busy all day.

This was the last time Alan Gunston would be organising the twice-yearly event and he has now handed over the reigns to Jim and Therese Corr (of Gateshead and Chester-le-Street toy fair fame) who will be preparing for the next event on Sunday 27 September 2015. We wish them continued success in the future.

MORE SPACE available for late bookings

Some of the models on sale at CTF 2014

At the March 15th Carlisle Toy Fair, there’s more available stall space, beside the cafe.

MORE SPACE found for late bookings! Due to increasing demand for table space at the next  Carlisle Toy Fair on Sunday 15 March, another area has been opened up to accommodate stallholders who were unable to get into the main exhibition hall. This will be situated near the very popular cafeteria area and within view of the main event. Any late enquiries can still be taken on 07855 289271.

Ready to Roll……..

We are all set for a great event on Sunday 15th March – Mums and all! As well as the usual mix of stallholders drawn from across Scotland and the Borders, the North East, Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria, we have also some new faces who have decided to see what all the fuss is about at Rosehill. Some are selling off parts of their own collections whilst others in attendance are simply happy to put on a bit of a show, such as the North East Meccano Society; Peter Metcalfe (Hornby Dublo – 3-rail); George Johnson & David Ranson (demonstrating the appeal of ‘O’ gauge) and Peter Koch-Osborne’s amazing goods yard diorama – which is completely self-contained within 3 box files! See the attached image for a small taste of his work.12-01-23_113547__M=A_R=8_S=4 lo resIn contrast, Peter will also be showing a few of his treasured ‘O’ gauge locos. Whatever your model interests, new or vintage, big or small scale, you can’t help but be impressed by the variety and choice on offer. Don’t forget, you can buy, swap or sell and we are hoping to raise some money for the Great North Air Ambulance too!

Fully Booked……….

With a month or so still to go I am happy to report that the next Carlisle Toy Fair is fully booked. We could of course expand to the cafeteria area, although this wouldn’t give stallholders the full benefit of being within the one exhibition hall as things stand. There will be at least six new stallholders who are specifically thinning-out/selling their collections, including model railways and/or diecast models. So don’t dilly-dally on the day – for those who are keen to pick up a bargain, there could be just the model you have been waiting for!

Edmond Newell of heavy haulage fame is donating a mint model of a McNally’s Crane Hire, Ballast Truck (for raffle), in support of the Great North Air Ambulance and one lucky winner will walk away with a £300  prize!  Don’t forget, whatever your area of interest, whether vintage or new, tinplate or plastic, railways or roads, soldiers, aircraft or tv/cinema related models etc.etc.; there’s a good chance you will find something to suit your taste and pocket!

Almost Fully booked……

With nearly two months still to go, the next Carlisle Toy Fair is almost fully booked! With at least eight new stallholders as well as many regular faces, Sunday 15 March promises to be another varied and rewarding day. Whether your interests are in old or new models, either as kits, diecast , plastic, tinplate, live steam, O, OO or N gauge railways, TV/Film related, soldiers, aircraft, dolls, meccano, boats/ships, haulage, plant, construction, farming, F1, rallying etc. etc. or you simply want a new cabinet to house your favourite model, then our next event at the H&H Exhibition Hall at Rosehill, Carlisle will not disappoint.  Some new stallholders are coming to ‘down-size’ their treasured collections – an opportunity not to be missed! Why not buy an early-bird ticket?? You can Buy, swap or sell your old favourite toys/models. And if all this is not enough, simply take the weight off your feet and savour the delights of one of the best cafeteria at any toy fair – anywhere!

Moving On……….

Two months have passed already since the last successful Carlisle Toy Fair and at last I can turn my attention towards preparations for the next event on Sunday 15 March 2015! This is hardly the quick update we have come to expect following the September event, but in my defence I have finally managed to move house after a rather protracted, and sometimes difficult move back to Cumbria. Never again!!! Despite being at times frantically pre-occupied with packing and sorting we have nonetheless received confirmation bookings from some stallholders for the March Carlisle Toy Fair  as well as a few new enquiries from collectors/stallholders who are keen to ‘give it a go’ in 2015! If anyone would like to promote a particular aspect of their collecting interest before the next event, then feel free to email me either on this website address and maybe we can post a small feature article for you to wet the appetite of other, like-minded collectors! Watch this space!
